A tale of two kitties

Hi Stitchers!

Because we were miserable after losing Pumpkin, because we love cats beyond reason, because the number of abandoned kittens is ever increasing, because the therapist would advise it, we have decided to contact a shelter in our town to give a home to a lonely cat.

At first, we intended to adopt only one kitten, but these sisters (yes, they're sisters! Almost unbelievable but true) were so cute and happy together, we have adopted both of them. With extremely friendly conditions from the part of the shelter and from the vet who very warmly recommended us to the shelter lady.

They'll be three months old on Xmas day. The tabby one is very thin and shy and her name is Pudding. She's adorable and loving, just needs to be reassured and she gives you all her love.

The grey one is bigger and her hair is longer and softer. She's also adventurous and incredibly trusting and loving. Her name is Crumble.

I wanted to name them Plum and Pudding (would've been perfect for the season) but we used to have a cat named Plum (though in French Prune) and my son didn't want to use the name again, even if in English.

Both pics were taken on Daphné's bed, their fav spot.

Daphné is feeling better, she's more peaceful, less sad.

I'm not a child, I'm still grieving Phoebe who passed away last July, and always will. Same for Pumpkin. Same for all the pets who have shared our lives and been fondly loved. Though I had doubts, the shelter lady said that even one day of love and good care was more than many cats ever get and she trusted us.

So here we are with three cats again, all female and loving and beloved. Now all I hope is that they live a very happy and long life. This is not all in our hands, but as always, we'll do our best.

Thank you for your kind messages, for sharing the sadness and being there.

I will try to make a new post before Xmas to show you our Xmas home. I know I probably won't have time to visit your blogs before Xmas though. And just in case you don't have time either, (time = luxury), I want to wish you

a very merry and peaceful Xmas, filled with love and cheer.

And as my current wip says (by Midsummer Night Designs):

At Christmas play and make good cheer,

for Christmas comes, but once a year.

Thomas Tusser.

Hugs to you all, Stitchers,

Lili

When I lost my beloved Daffycat, I thought I couldn't bear the thought of getting another cat. I ended up with Tacocat less than a month later. Cats just leave a hole that MUST be filled.

Congratulations on your beautiful new babies. I imagine they are so happy to have such a nice home for Christmas.

Merry Christmas, Lili!

I was so sorry to read of the loss of another kitty, and now am so happy for you to have brought 2 new kitties home. They never replace the ones before, but they give you someone new to love. Merry Christmas!

That's the stuff! An appropriately holiday pair of names. Crumble is an adorable name, even if it doesn't make as nice a set as "Plum" would have.

Most Americans, I'd say, don't associate Plums with prunes (what we refer to a dried plum as; don't know for the French)--I'd say that most of us think of prunes as giant, nasty raisins which only old people eat for their digestive troubles. :P

Merry Christmas to you and yours, and the adorable pets in your home, too.

I'm with you about losing a pet. I miss Brie terribly and I long for another rabbit as well :o( Pickles didn't do much but he was great company. LOL!

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with a lighter heart :o)

How exciting. So happy to see you have another pair of fur babies to love and cherish.

There is nothing I would love more than to have a cat/kitten.

Have fun.

Oh Lili, I'm so sorry. I got behind in my reading and just saw your posting on Pumpkin. How terribly hard to lose another. The two little ones you've given a home to look so sweet, I'm sure they'll be good company for Luna and bring joy with their companionship and watching their fun antics. The lady from the shelter was right in what she said about providing a loving home being so much more than many cats get. Pumpkin's life may have been shortened, but the love and affection you provided made it joy filled. Now you have two others that you are providing a loving home to, Pumpkin's looking down with approval I'm sure. {{hugs}}
